A Reflection Of Window Furnishings Trends in 2016

Soft floaty sheer curtains have been a popular trend, teamed with either a blockout Roller Blind in the recess or Linings behind the Sheer Curtains.

The Sheers are usually S Folds, and the linings Knife pleat, on double tracks. Having the sheers at the front, gives a room softness.
The overall look has been casual or elegant, this is determined by the type of sheer fabric used, these are the current window furnishing trends for 2016.

The Elegance of Sheer Curtains

For a casual look, clients have opted for plain natural linens or “linen look” fabrics, something with texture and substance.
For an elegant look, the sheer fabric has a sheen which creates elegance and glamour.

We have seen most people play it safe with colour, either whites, off whites, silver or mid grey tones.  If the sheer is a grey or silver, the lining behind is usually a coloured lining in the same colour, as opposed to the standard white lining.

Linen Curtains & Roman Blinds

We have also seen a trend towards blockout S Fold Linen Curtains on a single track, for the “Modern Relaxed Look”, and Inverted Box Pleat Linen Curtains on 25mm Black or Riverstone colour rods for the “Hamptons Look”. The Linen fabrics are naturals, whites, off whites or a muted colour palette. The trend is for Linen to drape on the floor between 2-6cm which looks fabulous!  There has been an amazing release of new Linen fabrics this year from many of our suppliers worldwide.

The Trend of Linen carries through to Roman Blinds, Bed Linen, loose Covers  and Soft Furnishings.

The other trend we are seeing now more than ever is the interest in motorised technology with in the window furnishings industry. From Roller Blinds, Roman Blinds, Curtains and even Shutters. The are many options, something for everyone, technology is the now and the future!

Certified Fabrics

Many of our fabric suppliers are now producing fabric which are being produced in accordance with the Oeko – Tex standard, this means there is a large range of certified fabrics, where there has been no harmful testing used in the manufacturing process. These fabrics range from self-coated blockout fabrics, unlined curtain fabrics, sheers and linings.
